B3 negotiates first ETF focused on video games and e-sports market

B3 started this Wednesday (15th) to negotiate the ETF Investment Game, whose ticker is GAME11.

The fund replicates the performance of the largest and most liquid companies in the e-sports and video games segment and is referenced by the MVIS Global Video Gaming & eSports Index.

At around 12:25 pm, Brasília time, the ETF cost R$93.75 and had a drop of 6.25%.

JOGO11 contains an administration fee of 0.48% per year, in addition to taxes of 15% on capital appreciation or 20% in the case of profit from a Day Trade operation. At today’s market opening and the ticker’s debut, the ETF price was R$100.

“We hope to bring a new class of investors to the stock market: gamers. In addition to participating in the main games as players or even spectators, now the community can also participate in the companies’ profits and growth”, says Cauê Mançanares, CEO of Investo, manager of JOGO11.

See how the index is composed, which only includes companies with at least 50% of revenue from video games and e-sports. The MVIS Global Video Gaming & eSports Index was released on July 16, 2018.

Claudio Pracownik, CEO and founding partner of Win The Game, and consultant at Investo for the development of this product, recalls that “the global game market currently moves US$ 175 billion, of which 4% correspond to Latin America. With growth of 7.5% per year, the expectation is that in 2024 the gamer universe will move US$ 220 billion”.

Currently, there are 92 million players in Brazil, divided almost equally between men and women, mainly in the age group of 21 to 35 years old.

The manager Investo rang the trading bell this Wednesday morning.

The ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) is a product that has its performance referenced in indexes, thus following the performance of several companies in a single investment. Today, there are 56 ETFs available on B3.

And it is worth noting that Brazilian ETFs do not distribute dividends, even though they are linked to companies or funds that do so. Thus, the income earned and the dividends that are paid will automatically be reinvested in the fund.

“More and more products are debuting on the market that, in a way, are already part of the investors’ daily lives. In this way, diversifying becomes simpler when the understanding of the asset is linked to daily life and causes identification with the investor, in addition to the benefits of exposure to the international market, which makes the portfolio even more robust and balanced”, comments Fabio Vicente, relationship manager with customers of B3.
