The action was carried out by the Civil Police, who requested the pre-trial detention of the investigated.
Investigations also pointed to the former director’s connection with a criminal organization that operates in the city. Also according to the Bahia Civil Police, Joneuma would have facilitated the action of criminals who promoted the invasion and escape in the prison.
The arrest took place on Getúlio Vargas Avenue, near a bank branch, around 9 pm. During the approach, police seized with the investigated several items, including cell phones, telephone chips, a notebook and $ 8,000 in kind. All the material was presented at the police station.
After being taken to the police unit, Joneuma underwent expert examination and will be transferred today to the Penal Set of Teixeira de Freitas. The investigation is still underway.

In the action, eight men exchanged fire with security agents and facilitated the escape of the inmates. According to police, the goal of the group was to free the head of the criminal faction that operates in Eunápolis. The other 15 fugitives are also part of the same organization.
After the escape, directors and coordinator of the penal unit were removed and the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) determined 30 days at the site.
At least two men suspected of assisting in detainees have already been found.
On January 16 of this year, one of 16 prisoners who fled died after an exchange of fire with civil police. Another 15 detainees are on the run and the case is still being investigated.
