Babies vaccinated against Covid by mistake are discharged in Sorocaba (SP)

The Municipality of Sorocaba said that two babies who had medical complications due to the mistaken application of vaccines against Covid-19 were discharged in recent days.

According to the statement, baby Miguel, 4 months old, was discharged on Friday afternoon (10). And, in the early afternoon of Saturday (11), it was the turn of Liz Vitória, 2 months old, to be released. Both are with their families.

Vaccination by mistake

Ana Cláudia Mugnos Riello, micro-entrepreneur and mother of the 2-month-old girl Liz Vitória, told CNN who went to UBS Nova Sorocaba on December 1st for the consultation and application of the pentavalent vaccine, but later, doctors and nurses identified that the dose of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine ended up being applied.

On the same day, Kethillyn Fernanda took her son, Miguel, for a routine vaccination at the same health unit where Ana Cláudia and Liz were treated, and by the same nurse. Again, the pentavalent was replaced by Pfizer’s Covid vaccine.

The next day, the Health Secretary went to Kethillyn’s house to report the nurse’s mistake and a City Hall car took the baby to the hospital.

Liz had a fever and vomited, and Miguel had swollen legs, a purple mouth, and difficulty breathing. Both do well.
