Babis Vovos: Under the hammer properties in Kifisia’s iconic Atrina glass tower

Another strong blow comes to be added to the successive blows received in recent years by the empire of glass towers built by the former king of domestic real estate and construction, Babis Vovos.

Since the slippery slope began about 7 years ago, countless assets linked to the business activity of the well-known businessman have gone the way of electronic auctions.

This time, however, December 21 is expected to see possibly the heaviest hammer yet, as a total of 189 auctions are set to be held for properties that once formed part of the multi-level edifice that bore the stamp of Babis Vovos.

From horizontal properties to car parks, located in two glass building complexes, which have been standing for several years on Kifisias Avenue in Maroussi, they will be targeted next December.

The glass skyscraper of the surroundings

One is the iconic Atrina Center, which could also be characterized as the flagship of the real estate portfolio of the Vovos companies.

Atrina, which was named after the initial letters of the names of his three children, Aris, Triada, Natalia, bears the signature of the famous architect Ioannis Vikelas and consists of two buildings.

One faces Kifissias Avenue while the second is none other than the famous glass tower, which for years starred in countless episodes of the television series Lampsi as she appeared as Giant of Iago Drakos.

So, in this tinted glass skyscraper, 20 horizontal properties are located, which are going under the hammer, some of which have been configured as office spaces and a store in the basement, while a number of parking spaces are also being auctioned.

The Atrina glass tower is 70 meters high and is divided into 18 floors. Its construction was completed in 1981 and it was characterized at the time as the “skyscraper of the surroundings”, being one of the first business and architectural efforts to open outside the center of Athens. Its high aesthetic still makes it stand out in the area even though several modern and impressive buildings have now been built.

The parking spaces in the building at 60 Kifisias Avenue

However, apart from the Atrina tower, properties located in yet another glass building of the once mighty empire of Vovos have also become involved in the whirlwind of electronic auctions.

It is a building on Kifisias Avenue at number 60, which was built in the early 1990s. It consists of three basements, in which there is a car park, a ground floor, a mezzanine, 7 floors of offices and a roof. The hammer is expected to go down for a large number of parking spaces, which will be sold separately.

Overall, from this heavy hammer, first offer prices start at €6,000 and go up to €278,400 depending on the property.

Finally, it should be noted that the auctions, which are directed against Babis Vovos International Technical Anonyme Company, are expedited by Cepal Hellas.
