A 7-month-old baby kept hostage by his own father was rescued in the center of São Paulo, on the afternoon of last Sunday (8).
According to the police, the father was armed with a knife and kept his son captive inside an apartment on the 10th floor. He had also already attacked them before they barricaded themselves in the place.
Agents from the Military Police Special Tactical Actions Group (Gate) were called to the rescue. Tactical intervention units (ITU), a sniper and police officers were positioned for a possible scheduled or emergency entry .
During the negotiation, the baby’s father remained aggressive, but was convinced to talk to the police after his lawyer was present. The suspect has a history of serious crimes according to the police.
When the criminal opened the door to surrender, the team carried out a strategic rescue, rappelling through the window and ensuring the baby’s safety.
