The trials for Johnny Depp seem not to end yet, because a little more than ten days after the final verdict of his legal battle for defamation against his ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor will take the stand again, but this time he will appear at the Los Angeles Superior Court and will face a lawsuit for alleged assault on a location manager.
On July 25, the interpreter of the Crazy Hat will return to trial for a lawsuit filed against him on July 9, 2018, in which Gregg “Rocky” Brooks accuses him of having beaten him during the filming of the film City of Lies.
According to what was filed in the lawsuit, Brooks assures that the alleged assault occurred on April 13, 2017, when Depp was recording a scene outside the Barclay Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It turns out that during a conversation, the location manager tried to talk to the 58-year-old actor and the film’s director after Depp wanted to continue filming on location despite running out of time limits.
According to the recording schedules, the location manager explained that the production had permission to film until 7:00 p.m. outside the hotel and until 10:00 p.m. inside, but that the actor asked that the permission a bit longer, as I was trying to create a longer version of the scene with two friends.
Following Depp’s request, the time was extended twice, but at 11:00 p.m., the permissions officer asked for the recordings to end. Brooks went in search of a police officer to notify the actor, but before doing so, he confronted him and yelled that he had no right to tell him what to do.
Supposedly, Depp didn’t take it in the best way, so during their dispute, the location manager claims that while he was yelling at him, the Jack Sparrow performer hit him twice in the lower rib cage and challenged him saying that he would give him $100,000 if he punched him in the face right then.
Not agreeing to his request, the 58-year-old actor continued to yell at him throughout the set, until his bodyguards took him out of there. Brooks assured that at that time Depp smelled strongly of alcohol and that three days after the incident, the production fired him for refusing to sign a document where he waived his right to sue.
The presence of Johnny Depp in this trial is not yet confirmed, what is a fact is that both lawyer Benjamin Chew and lawyer Camille Vasquez will be his defense in Los Angeles Superior Court.
