Bad Bunny has been successful in several countries since the release of his first album, “X100Pre”, in 2018. Accustomed to appearing at the top of the music charts around the world, Brazil will now receive a megashow from Porto-Rican in February next year in Sao Paulo.
The album “Debí Remove Bad Photos”, which names the tour, released in January this year, has set up several songs in global rankings in the release week. The single “DTMF” went viral on social networks and got a space on Brazilian soil by reaching 56th position on Billboard Brazil’s musical parade – being the first song totally in Spanish and no collaborations entering the ranking.
This unprecedented feat for a Latin artist raises questions about the receptivity of the Brazilian public to Latin music and the barriers that existed until then.
For years, it was speculated that the Spanish language would be an obstacle to the success of Latin artists in Brazil. However, Felipe Maia, journalist and music researcher in the social and cultural context, disagrees.
“This thesis is so boring, so boteco’s history. There has never been a linguistic barrier for music in English. Look at the distance English has for Portuguese,” he told CNN, also highlighting K-pop’s success in Brazil as another example that the linguistic barrier is not a determining factor.
In addition, examples of artists with great repercussion in Brazil abound. Shakira herself, who started her new tour in the country, is the biggest representation of this.
THE ROLE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS
Bad Bunny’s success in Brazil can largely be attributed to the viralization of “DTMF” on social networks. The music has gained its own trend on Tiktok that has reached several countries, including ours. In it, users share photos and moments with people who are gone with the context that they should have enjoyed more with them.
This is an indication that Bad Bunny is not unknown here. Felipe Maia points out that the problem is in the question “Company – Artist”. You need to sell tickets, merchans and fill stadiums. But that does not mean that there is no demand: “You can do two or three shows around if you choose the right concert hall,” argues the journalist.
The singer confirmed that he will come to Brazil for the first time and will perform at the Allianz Parque Stadium, located in the west of São Paulo, on February 20, 2026. The information was given by Live Nation, a producer who will take care of “Debí take bad photos”.
A day earlier, Palmeiras’ social networks shared a photo of two plastic chairs on Allianz’s sidewalk, which very much resembled the cover of Bunny’s last album. It was not long before the artist’s fans were euphoric with the possibility of Porto-Rican to do a show here.
The entrances begin to be sold on Wednesday (7) by Ticketmaster Officer website. Only Santander Select and Private customers will have access at first. The rest of Santander customers will be able to guarantee their tickets on Thursday (8), a day before the opening of the general sale, which starts on Friday (9).
