BAFTA Awards, Britain’s Greatest Film, Announces List of Nominees

THE bafta, the main award for British cinema, announced this Thursday (3) the nominees for its 75th edition. Denis Villeneuve’s film Dune was awarded 11 nominations by the British Academy of Film and Television, leading the list. “Attack of the Dogs”by Jane Campion, was nominated 8 times, while “Belfast”by Kenneth Branagh, received six nominations.

In the main award category, Best Film, the three nomination leaders share the race with “Don’t Look Up”by Adam Mckay, and “Licorice Pizza”by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Lady Gaga (“Casa Gucci”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“Don’t Look Up”) and Will Smith (“King Richard: Raising Champions”) are some of Hollywood’s most popular names competing for the British award in acting categories.

One of the surprises was the absence of “Spencer”, Pablo Larrain’s film in which Kristen Stewart plays Princess Diana. The actress is one of those listed in the dispute for the Oscars 2022, which officially discloses its list of nominees on the 8th.

the actresses Nicole Kidman (“Introducing the Ricardos”) and Olivia Colman (“The Lost Daughter”), and actor Denzel Washington (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”) were other strong names that are expected to appear at the Oscars and were left out of the Bafta race.

The Bafta awards ceremony takes place on March 13. Check below the list of the main nominees and the gallery of the productions that compete for the Best Film award. See the full list of nominations here.
