Bahceli’s gift to Erdogan: Thrace and pseudo-state belong to the ‘Turkish’ world

The leader of the Gray Wolves and chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahceli, had a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the provocation could not be missing.

The two men met at noon at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, where they discussed political developments in the country and the course of their co-operation. The far-right nationalist Bahceli presented the Islamist president with a map depicting the Turkish-speaking world.

In English, the term Turkish, which means one with Turkish nationality, translates into Turkish as Türk. But as in Greek, so in Turkish there is no relevant term to denote the English term Turkic, which characterizes people who draw (or want to draw) their origin from the Turkic-speaking leaves that migrated from the Mongolian steppes to the West. .

Thus, the map, although depicting Turkish-speaking populations, as it has colored areas of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, but also the pseudo-state and Thrace, is characteristic of the scope of Turkish propaganda.

Using the duality of the word “Turk-Türk”, the far-right, Islamist duo tries to show the relationship that all Turkish-speaking people on the planet have with the “mother” Turkey.

This of course is a continuation of it five days ago of the Turkish president, who stated that Turkey hopes to see the occupied areas of Cyprus among the members of the Council of Turkic Speaking Countries.

“I have confidence in your valuable support for easing the isolation and the embargo against the Turkish Cypriots, who are an integral part of the Turkish-speaking world. [χρησιμοποιείται ο όρος turkic]”Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the leaders of the Turkish-speaking countries during the eighth summit of the Council in Istanbul on November 12th.
