This Saturday (17), the facial recognition system of the Bahia Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA) reached the 905 arrests in 2025. In the last two days, six fugitives of justice were arrested in the cities of Salvador, Feira de Santana and Itacaré.
According to information released by the Bahian Secretariat, the fugitives are accused of crimes of homicide, vulnerable rape, illegal possession of firearms, and for alimony debt.
They passed through points monitored by SSP smart cameras, and then the alerts were issued by the region’s Integrated Communication Centers (Cicoms) to be located. Integrated teams of the Interior Military Police assisted in the catches.
Total arrests
Since its release in February 2019, the tool has already accounted for 3,291 arrests of criminals with arrest warrants issued by the court.
Homicides, traffickers, robbers, sought for theft, rapists and criminals with alimony debt are on the list of major arrests with the help of smart cameras.
Repercussion cases
Also according to SSP, this week, the system assisted the Federal Police in capturing a sought by the state of Rio Grande do Sul since February this year, 71, for the crime of rape of vulnerable.
