Bahia: three men die after shooting with police in the metropolitan region of Salvador

Three men were killed on Tuesday night (31) after a confrontation with the Military Police in the municipality of Candeias, in the metropolitan region of Salvador (BA). With the incident, the number of deaths by PM in the state of Bahia in October reached at least 31.

According to information from the Military Police, corporation agents were patrolling when they received reports that armed men were trying to steal vehicles near the BA-524 highway.

The PM says the police officers were shot at as they approached the suspects. The agents retaliated and, after the exchange of gunfire, three men were found injured. The Military Police say they provided aid to the suspects, but they died upon arrival at the hospital.

Three revolvers and 38 caliber ammunition were seized from the suspects, which were taken to the 20th Civil Police Station, in Candeias.

Deaths in clashes with the PM in October

In October, at least 31 people were killed in clashes with the Military Police in Bahia.

In addition to Salvador, the cities of Catu, Mussurunga, Jequié, Eunápolis, Lauro de Freitas, Valença, Camaçari and Candeias also recorded exchanges of gunfire between agents and suspects that ended in deaths. In the first week of the month alone, there were 16 deaths.

According to the Civil Police of Bahia, in all cases the people killed were suspected of involvement with criminal factions.

According to a survey carried out by CNN In partnership with the Fogo Cruzado Institute, in September the number of deaths in clashes with the police reached 72.
