This Monday (6) is the fourth day of operation of the Bahia rescue team, in Rio Grande do Sul, to help rescue victims of the rain. To date, 208 people have been rescued, as well as 18 pets and four fatalities located. Elderly people and children were in the group of rescuers.
The national mobilization involves more than seven states, due to the rains that affect Rio Grande do Sul. Since last Thursday (2), 22 firefighters from the Bahia Military Fire Department (CBMBA) have been working in the operation.
This Sunday (5), firefighters were working in Galópolis, district of Caxias do Sul, where they were searching for people buried by landslides in the region. Another team was in Santa Lúcia do Piaí, committed to rescuing 11 residents who were isolated in the region of Faria Lemos, district of Bento Gonçalves, where inhabitants were being removed from risky locations.
The Bahian military is also working in a donation distribution center and first reception for the homeless and homeless. “We divided our military into three fronts, so that we could serve a greater number of citizens. Our work takes place in conjunction with other fire departments and other bodies, such as civil defense”, explained the general commander of the CBMBA, Colonel Adson Marchesini. If necessary, the Bahia Military Fire Department will send other teams to reinforce service to the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Still over the weekend, the Consórcio Nordeste, a group formed by the nine states in the region, announced the sending of human resources and equipment to assist in search, relief and assistance efforts for the population affected by the storms in Rio Grande do Sul.
