The death of Thiago da Silva Folly, known as Th da Maré, in an operation of the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) yesterday morning (13), represents a hard blow against organized crime in Rio de Janeiro. Despite Th’s death ending a trajectory marked by violence and court escape, authorities still face the challenge of capturing other high -dangerous names linked to drug trafficking. According to the website “Wanted”, at least 43 criminals appear on the list of the most wanted in Rio, with emphasis on heads of trafficking that still dominate several state communities.

Among the most dangerous is Almir Araújo, known as Mimi, Paraíba or Ball Face. With a record that includes drug trafficking, theft and kidnapping, Almir was sentenced to 50 years in prison, but fled the penitentiary system in March 2024.
