Ban on cyberattacks. List of 16 sectors published, which Biden handed over to Putin

During a June 16 meeting in Switzerland, US President Joe Biden handed over to Russian President Vladimir Putin a list of sectors of the economy and infrastructure that should not be subject to cyberattacks.

Today, June 17, Bloomberg journalist Jennifer Jacobs posted a list of these sectors on Twitter.

List of 16 sectors:

1. Chemical industry (chemicals).

2. Commercial facilities.

3. Communications.

4. Critical manufacturing.

5. Dams (dams).

6. Defense.

7. EMS (Emergency medical services – ambulance medical services; or Express Mail Service – international express delivery service of postal correspondence).

8. Energy.

9. Finances (financial).

10. Food industry / agriculture (food / ag).

11. Government agencies (govt facilities).

12. Health care.

13. Information technology (IT).

14. Nuclear facilities.

15. Transportation.

16. Water supply (water).

Biden said he warned Putin that if the Kremlin does not stop cyberattacks on the United States, Washington will retaliate.

  • Putin said that at a meeting with Biden, the topic of Ukraine was discussed, and the issue of Ukraine’s possible entry into NATO was “touched upon with a smear.”
  • Biden said that he told Putin about the unbreakable US support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
