At the end of August, the bank employee first paid for coffee in a corporate cafe using the GIFT token, issued on the Polygon blockchain.
Lenin Tarrillo, head of the BCP blockchain and crypto activists, called the Blockchain Gifts project by the internal laboratory. The bank released the GIFT digital token on the Polygon public blockchain, but with the help of a smart contract, it limited the market access by a small number of outlets and banking services.
“The bank wants to understand what difficulties a person who does not know about cryptocurrencies may face when loading a wallet, adding token and its use. Everything was implemented by the bank, without any financial risks, ”said the top manager.
Tarrillo said that the practical use of digital assets “will allow the bank to accumulate experience and think, for example, about cross -border payments or how to improve money transfers”, as well as prepare for the introduction of new rules for regulating the crypto of Peru.
Earlier, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (CRBP) published a document on the capabilities of its own digital currency, its design and the advantages of use in the country’s payment system.
