Bandits invade home and threaten father and daughter with Russian roulette in robbery in DF

Two robbers broke into a house in Taguatinga, in the Federal District, and surrendered a 57-year-old man and one of his 19-year-old daughters.

All the thieves’ action was recorded by the security cameras of the residence. The crime took place on Tuesday (25).

The owner of the property, who preferred not to be identified, told the CNN the minutes of terror experienced during the robbery.

“I was in my office, separating some documents, and they called at the gate, by my name. I walked out of the office and pressed the remote to open it a little bit. At that, a man wearing a helmet entered, which I found very strange, because no one has ever done that here”, says the merchant. “When I was halfway there, the second person came in, also wearing a helmet. Then I came to the conclusion that it was a robbery.”

He says that he discreetly tried to get away from the thieves, but that he started to run into the house when he saw one of them putting his hand to his waist in order to try to lock himself in the room. “But they were very quick, they arrived with me at the door of the room, I couldn’t close it”, he recalls.

Bandits threatened father and daughter during robbery in Taguatinga

According to the victim, it was at that moment that the robbers surrendered him and his daughter. “At the time he put the gun on me, he said: ‘I came here because I want money and jewelry. Where is (sic) the safe?’ So I took him to the office.”

When the owner of the house reported that the safe was empty, the criminals began to act with extreme violence. One of them pointed the gun at the 19-year-old’s head and made the so-called “Russian roulette”. “That’s when he ripped the ammunition out of the revolver, leaving only one, and then he turned the barrel, closed it, pointed it up, pulled the trigger and then took it to my daughter’s head. They said, ‘Let’s try our luck now,’” she reports.

In an attempt to protect his daughter, the father went up to the thief, who turned the gun on him: “It’s just a shot. So let it be me. I would rather die than let her die in front of me,” he said.

According to the Federal District Civil Police, the bandits forced the man to make a transfer of R$ 1,200 via Pix, stole a watch and other family belongings.

Criminals climbed over wall to escape

The violent episode came to an end thanks to the quick action of the second daughter, who was hiding in the closet in another room of the house. “She called her brother, who called the police, and soon after, she called the neighbors, so she mobilized a lot of people here on the street”, said the father.

After the robbery, the bandits tried to flee through the entrance of the house, but the motorcycle they had parked in front of the property had already been removed by the residents of the street. The criminals then returned to the house and fled by jumping over the back wall.

The pair left behind an empty black leather bag, which police found in front of the residence. The motorcycle used by the bandits was seized.

As of the time of publication of this report, the two suspects remain at large. The case is being investigated by the 12th police district.
