The Bank of England (BoE) announced its decision to keep the benchmark interest rate and buyout program unchanged, as expected. In a unanimous decision the Monetary Policy Committee voted (9-0) to leave the interest rate at 0.1%. The purchase program remained at 895,000 million pounds, in a vote that had a vote against.
The pound registered a fall after the decision was known along with the minutes of the meeting. GBP / USD fell back from 1.3960 to 1.3920 and EUR / GBP jumped above 0.8570.
