Lee Sue Ann, an economist at the UOB Group, has suggested that the Bank of England could raise the key policy rate by another 25 basis points at its June 16 event.
Key comments
“Previously, we had held a cautious view that the Bank of England would pause once the policy rate reached 1.00%. However, the result of the latest Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) vote has been a little less bearish than we expected so now we expect another 25 basis point hike in June“.
“As for asset sales, we’ll likely have to wait until at least that meeting to get some guidance, though. we expect sales to start in Q4 2022 at £5bn a month.”
