Bank of Spain official says the ECB must act in December to avoid deflation risks

The European Central Bank (ECB) is due to announce a further easing of monetary policy in December to avoid the risk of deflation in the euro zoneOscar Arce, chief economist at the Spanish central bank, said in an interview in Madrid on Tuesday night.

Key Comments (via Bloomberg):

“We know that to ensure that risk does not materialize, we must act quickly and forcefully“.

“The prospect of an entrenched price decline stalks the entire monetary bloc and not just Spain“.

“We are seeing a increase in the share of goods whose prices are rising very little or falling, which is an indication of the risk. ”
