The banks with actions at stock Exchange were the companies with the biggest gain in market value in the month of August, while mining companies recorded the biggest loss, according to a survey by the TradeMap platform.
The survey shows that the banks had a gain of R$ 76,749 million considering the share price at the beginning of August and the value at the end of the month. Already the mining companies had a decrease of R$ 22,342 million.
The two performances were equivalent to triple the variations of the sectors that had the second largest gain and loss in market value, respectively trade (R$ 21,953 million) and wood and paper (negative R$ 6,876 million).
In the division by companies, four of the five biggest gains in market value came from banks. O Itaú Unibanco tops the list, with a rise of R$20 million, followed by BTG Pactual (R$17.8 million), Banco do Brasil (R$16.3 million), Bradesco (R$15.4 million) and Magazine Luiza (R$11.2 million).
Considering the ten biggest gains, the companies Hapvida, Ambev, Caixa Seguridade, Rumo SA and Grupo Mateus also make up the list.
The biggest loss in market value, on the other hand, was OK , of R$ 24.1 million. The mining company is followed by Telefônica Brasil (-R$5.7 million), Suzano (-R$5.3 million), JBS (-R$5.2 million) and Petrobras (-R$3.5 million). Also among the ten biggest declines are Engie, Braskem, TIM, MRS Logística and Grupo Natura.
In all, the 342 companies with shares in B3 totaled a gain in market value of R$166.183 million. Of the 34 sectors of the stock exchange, eight had a decline in market value.
The gains reflect a positive month for the Brazilian stock exchange, benefiting from an inflow of capital and an appreciation of more than 6%, taking off from the performance of the main foreign markets. The flow was supported by elements such as discounted assets, a stronger-than-expected economy and the expectation of the end of the cycle of high interest rates in Brazil.
