A driver drove away with it car of three protestors who together with other people had stopped traffic on its main avenue Barcelona as a march was underway for International Women’s Day.
The driver tried to move onto the road, but after seeing that she was not allowed by the presence of the group of people, she decided to step on the gas. At that moment, two protestors were “hooked” on the hood, with the woman not stopping the vehicle for several meters. Another woman was slightly injured in the collision, as reported by the Spanish media citing police sources. The incident happened on Wednesday (8/3) in the center of Barcelona.
Hitting the car and insulting the driver
The driver’s act provoked reactions from the other members of the group who were at that point. As can be seen in the video that went around the internet, several women followed the car and started banging on its windows and other places in order for the woman driving it to stop. As reported by the Spanish media, they also cursed and insulted the woman.
The police authorities have identified the driver and will conduct the necessary investigation which will then be transferred to the judicial authorities to do whatever they deem necessary in the circumstances.
