Barnier says we must be prepared for all Brexit scenarios

The EU’s main Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, has added to his previous comments, saying that one of the biggest difficulties in trade talks is fishing.

Key Comments:

If the UK wants to prevent EU fishermen from accessing the waters, the EU must have the sovereign right to react.

It would not be fair or acceptable for fishermen not to have a transitional right in the waters of the United Kingdom.

We want a trade agreement with the UK; we do not ask for more than a balance between rights and obligations.

At this time, I cannot say what the outcome of the Brexit trade negotiations will be.

We must be prepared for all Brexit scenarios.
