Barueri, São Caetano and Florianópolis lead the competitiveness ranking

The Public Leadership Center (CLP) released this Monday (22) at an event at B3 in São Paulo, the competitiveness ranking that presents the socioeconomic reality of the 411 cities with more than 80 thousand inhabitants.

In an interview with CNN Radio, the director of the CLP, Tadeu Barros, explained that 63 indicators verify the performance of the municipalities. This year, the novelty is the ESG look, of public policies with a concern with governance and sustainability, and also takes into account the 17 goals of sustainable development of the UN.

“All this so that the population can have an idea of ​​performance and the government has data to implement public policies, leverage investment and income for the cities”, he said.

This is the second edition of the ranking and Tadeu advanced the podium: “The absolute leader is Barueri, in São Paulo, with the bi-championship, São Caetano do Sul appears in second and Florianópolis closes the podium.”

“The important thing is that public managers identify good practices and inspirations and seek in the ranking an ability to connect with these success stories to take to the municipalities, so that citizens can have better public policies”, he said.

Among the indicators, there are also areas such as access to health, education, public safety (even if it is not a municipal competence), investment attraction, employment and income.

“There are several ‘Brasis’ within the country, the ranking looks at the data and portrays it perfectly, in the top 100, there is a concentration of municipalities in the South and Southeast and difficulties in the North and Northeast in relation to the historical issue in relation to economic development” , analyzed.
