Stephen Curry, the US men’s basketball star for the Golden State Warriors, said in a video shown at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday (22) that Kamala Harris “can bring unity back and continue to move our country forward” as president.
“This is about preserving hope and belief in our country. Ensuring that families can be cared for during their most precious moments,” he said.
“I visited Kamala with my staff at the White House last year, and I can tell you one thing I knew then and definitely know now: The Oval Office definitely suits her,” he said.
Curry helped lead the U.S. men’s basketball team to the Olympic gold medal earlier this month against France, hitting four game-winning 3-pointers in a span of 2 minutes, 13 seconds late in the fourth quarter.
Kamala Harris is also an avid fan of the Warriors, who were formerly based in her hometown of Oakland before moving to San Francisco.
President Joe Biden hosted the Golden State Warriors at the White House to celebrate their 2022 NBA championship.
“In the words of Michelle Obama, do something. Go vote. Get active. Let’s show up this November like never before,” Curry said.
“It was an honor for me to represent our country. It’s an honor to support Kamala, so let’s all do our part,” he concluded.
Criticism of Trump in the past
The Warriors’ invitation to visit the White House to celebrate their 2017 championship was rescinded by Trump after Curry criticized him for his attacks on black athletes protesting during the national anthem.
Instead of visiting the White House, the Warriors visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture with local Washington students.
