Bassist Mingau continues rehabilitation in private clinic

Musician Rinaldo Oliveira Amaral, aka Mingau, bassist for the band Ultraje a Rigor, is in a rehabilitation clinic after leaving the hospital last week. The information was released this Monday (15) by the musician's daughter, Isabella Aglio, who updated her father's health status on social media.

“It’s not time to come home yet. There is still a lot to be worked on in his rehabilitation. Motor physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, lots of things, people. It's a long process, but we have faith. He’s here, he’s fine”, said the young woman in a posted video.

Mingau, 56 years old, was shot in the head in Paraty, on Costa Verde, in Rio de Janeiro, in September 2023. At the time, the friend who was with the bassist said, in a statement to the Civil Police, that the two were going have a snack when they were attacked.

“I needed to come here and talk to you who have been so supportive of us. I shared a post last week, but for those who didn't see it, my father was discharged from the ICU, where he stayed for four months. It was practically a lifetime there”, said the musician’s daughter, referring to the treatment in a private hospital in the capital of São Paulo.

According to the medical team, Mingau was breathing spontaneously and his neurological condition was progressing well. In addition, she underwent three surgical procedures, which allowed her to be discharged from the unit on the 8th.

The young woman also recalled a crowdfunding campaign that aims to raise R$600,000 to help pay for the treatment, including the placement of a prosthesis. So far, little more than the amount has been raised.

“The crowdfunding continues, we still have one more surgery to go, for the prosthesis, to put on the hubcap, the prosthesis. And there will be some more events that will have part of the profit going to my father. (…) Thank you for your support”, she concluded.
