The podcast fiction series by Spotify about the alter ego of BatmanBruce Wayne, will debut worldwide in May with local adaptations in nine countries, including Brazil, India and Japan, the company said on Tuesday (5).
The podcast follows the movie “The Batman,” which was released in theaters in March and sold nearly $712 million in tickets worldwide.
“Batman Unburied” is the first podcast developed through a multi-year agreement between Spotify and AT&T’s Warner Bros. to bring DC Comics superheroes to narrative podcasts.
The music streaming service has been growing its podcast business and now offers over 3.2 million titles.
Described as a psychological thriller, “Batman Unburied” is an original story that begins with Wayne working as a forensic pathologist examining the victims of a serial killer.
The English production will premiere globally on May 3, as will local versions in Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan and Mexico.
The adaptations will be offered in the local language and will feature directors and voice actors from the region, the company said. The itineraries will also be adapted to reflect the local culture.
Winston Duke, who played M’Baku in Marvel’s “Black Panther,” will voice the role of Wayne in the English-language series.
In Brazil, Wayne will be voiced by actor Rocco Pitanga, brother of Camila Pitanga and son of Antônio Pitanga.
