Bavaria is in talks with Intel to build a chip factory in Europe to remove supply bottlenecks that are hampering manufacturing in the automotive sector. This was recently announced by the Minister of Local Economy.
In recent months, the American chipmaker has requested € 8 billion in government subsidies to build a semiconductor manufacturing plant in Europe.

“I strongly support this,” the source quotes Hubert Aiwanger, Minister of Economy of Bavaria. “The possible location of a major international semiconductor manufacturer in Bavaria is a great opportunity.”
Bavaria has offered Intel an abandoned airbase at Penzing-Landsberg, west of Munich, as a possible site for the plant.
