O Public Ministry of Bahia (MP-BA) established a procedure to investigate racist practices that were being committed against David Brito participant of Big Brother Brazil (BBB24) . The information was released by the agency this Tuesday (12).
The action was filed through the Anti-Racism Prosecutor's Office last Monday (11). As disclosed by the MP, racist insults were said to have been made against David in social media .
According to prosecutor Lívia Sant'Anna Vaz, the companies that own the social networks where the racist statements were made will be authorized to send information about the profiles that allegedly carried out the alleged crime.
The objective, according to Vaz, is to identify the authors. “People have become very comfortable expressing hatred on social media, be it racial, gender, sexual orientation, believing that they are in hiding, that they will not be discovered,” said the prosecutor in the statement released by the organization to the press.
“We have the legal and technological instruments to discover the authorship of this type of message”, guaranteed the prosecutor.
The MP, however, did not say whether the companies that own social networks – such as Meta, which is responsible for Facebook and Instagram, or X, formerly Twitter – have, in fact, already been official or what is the deadline for sending the documents .
