Funk singer MC Bin Laden, 30, was announced as one of the participants in the new edition of Big Brother Brasil. He will be part of the Camarote group.
MC Bin Laden was born in the Vila Progresso neighborhood, Itaquera district, in the capital of São Paulo and represents São Paulo funk in the East Zone.
In his call for the program, he says he wants to make allies who are “in the game to play”, in addition to making it clear that he is very sincere and does not like falsehood.
Before his fame, MC Bin Laden was actually Jefferson Cristian dos Santos Lima and went through great financial difficulties. Adopted at the age of 18, he was a salesman on Rua 25 de Março, in addition to offering products in homes, knocking on doors.
The stage name came from the success of the song “Bin Laden did not die”. However, in more recent interviews, he has said that he is thinking about changing his stage name, chosen when he was younger and didn't really understand the meaning of things.
When he was 18 years old, the song “Bololo haha” exploded his career in the early 2010s. Subsequently, the hit “Tá Tranquil, Está Favorable”, in 2015, reached the general public and the hit clip went viral on the internet. With national notoriety, she participated in TV programs and took to the stage at national and international festivals.
At the beginning of 2023, the funk singer also appeared on the album by the British rock band Gorillaz, with the song “Controllah”, which put him back in the spotlight.
On social media, MC Bin Laden celebrated the release of the song as a “victory for funk and the movement”. “A feat of mine with one of the biggest bands in the world. Funk being heard all over the world,” he wrote.
He seems to want to follow the path of mixing funk and other rhythms.
In November, he released the song “MALVADONA”, with the band Grilo and DJ MU540.
“It’s a musical style that mixes rock and funk genres. For those who liked “Controllah”, with the group Gorillaz, I think you will like this one too”, he said at the time.
In 2023, MC Bin Laden was also one of the attractions at Primavera Sound, an international festival that took place at the Autódromo de Interlagos.
