The Swiss branch of the multinational bank BBVA has taken into account in its operational activities the request of institutional clients to expand the list of available digital assets.

Phillipe Meyer, head of digital solutions and blockchain at BBVA Switzerland, said that the bank’s institutional clients will now be able to transact in Circle’s USDC stablecoin.

“BBVA’s Swiss branch is actively developing its blockchain infrastructure and services for storing and trading cryptocurrencies. From now on, in addition to making transactions in bitcoins and ethers, the bank’s clients will be able to send USDC stablecoins,” Meyer said.

He added that the bank’s clients will be able to manage digital assets on par with traditional investments, including automatically converting them into euros, dollars or any other fiat currency.

As a reminder, in 2021, BBVA’s Swiss branch became the first bank among traditional financial institutions in Europe to add Ether to its range of supported products.
