BC servers repeat partial stoppage and indicate new stop on the 24th

Central Bank employees made a new partial stoppage of activities this Wednesday (9), with membership of more than 50% of the autarchy’s staff, informed the National Union of Central Bank Employees (Sinal).

The entity said in a note that, in the face of bottlenecks in negotiations with the government, an indication was approved for a new partial interruption of activities on February 24, with the possibility of an indefinite strike from March.

The group, which claims salary increases, had already stopped activities in January. The movement gained strength after the government authorized the release of resources to increase remuneration for public security careers, without extending the benefit to other categories.

“The latest statements by President Bolsonaro, deputy Ricardo Barros and ministers Ciro Nogueira and Paulo Guedes also suggest that the readjustment will only be given to federal police officers, excluding BC servers,” the union said.

Although there are 1.7 billion reais reserved for adjustments in this year’s Budget, the government argues that there is still no formal definition of the allocation of this amount. Any increase in police officers will depend on congressional approval.

According to Sinal, there is an indication of a new meeting of representatives of the servers with the president of BC, Roberto Campos Neto, but the date is not yet defined.

Asked about the possible impact of the stoppage on services and activities, the Central Bank said it would not comment.

For the new stoppage, Sinal says that it will act to achieve adherence of 70% of the servers. According to the union, the group will await a response from the government until the 24th to discuss the possibility of a strike.
