BC strike continues after government fails to present proposal at meeting, says union

After meeting this Tuesday (5th) with the Secretary of Personnel Management of the Ministry of Economy, Leonardo Sultani, the National Union of Employees of the Central Bank (Sinal) informed that no proposal was submitted by the federal government.”

Today’s meeting between Sinal and Leonardo Sultani, head of the People Management Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy, did not bring the presentation of an official proposal by the Government. As there was no official proposal, our response will be to maintain and intensify the strike,” said Sinal in a statement.

The meeting takes place amid the strike by BC civil servants, a movement that has already temporarily suspended the publication of various reports and economic indicators released by the institution. According to Sinal, without a solution to the demand of the category for readjustment, the expectation for adhesion to the strike is more than 60%.

The Sinal states that around 725 BC employees have already handed over their commissioned positions, although the publications of these departures have not been public in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU). “BC management decided to try to “hold” the Decommissioning Ordinances. The Sinal will charge the management of the BC for the implementation of the ordinances”, claims the union.

The president of Sinal, Fábio Faiad, says that the strike by BC servers will respect the law on essential services. “However, Pix and other BC activities do not fall within the scope of the essential services law. Therefore, the strike could partially disrupt the PIX and the distribution of coins and banknotes,” he notes.
