Bear market and the bear market; Bitcoin melts; and the ICMS ceiling passes the Senate

This Tuesday (14), the markets try to recover after the strong drops of the previous day. On Monday (13), the S&P fell nearly 4%, marking a 21.83% drop since the peak reached in January and entering into bear market. Of the 17 times the US market went into a bear market, 9 times it was followed by a recession.

In addition to stocks, cryptocurrencies also showed a strong decline at the beginning of the week, especially Bitcoin, which fell about 15% on Monday. At around 18:00, the main cryptocurrency in the world fell 15.07%, quoted at US$ 23,234, the lowest value since December 2020 and far from the November 2021 maximum of US$ 67,000.

Finally, another highlight is the approval of the ICMS ceiling on fuel of 17% by the Federal Senate. There were 65 votes in favor of the basic text, against 12 votes against and zero abstentions. The text now returns to the Chamber of Deputies.
