BEAT decided – with the support of its parent company FREE NOW – to double the amount (20,000 euros) awarded by the conviction of Th. Lymperopoulos for his false and slanderous allegations against the company.
As the company states in an announcement:

At BEAT, the No. 1 free taxi call application in Greece, we decided – with the support of our parent company FREE NOW – to double the amount (20,000 euros) awarded by the conviction of Th. Lymperopoulos for his false and slanderous allegations against our company.
In collaboration with the Social Hackers Academy, an educational institute of technology that supports socially vulnerable groups, as well as the NGO ‘ACCESS NOW – Access Now’ led by Paralympian Gr. Polychronidis, we will implement an educational program worth 40,000 euros which will help people disabled to develop skills in technology. Our goal, through technology, is to promote equal opportunities at work and to strengthen the inclusion of all creative people.
The decision of the Athens Court of Appeals puts a final end to a period of slander and insult of BEAT, with the obvious purpose of damaging the commercial credibility and the reputation of the company. What remains, however, is anachronistic legislation, based on shabby arguments, now condemned as defamatory by Justice.
However, because of this context, there continue to be barriers to the provision of quality services with the result that on the one hand thousands of drivers are deprived of income and on the other hand thousands of citizens suffer as they are unable to find taxis during peak times.
There is a need for the State to intervene in the market of travel and digital applications, setting rules and correcting this distortion that discourages further investment in the industry and punishes the right professionals.
