Automobile plants located in Russia in March 2022 produced a total of 71.9 thousand units of automotive vehicles. At the same time, compared to March last year, sales fell by more than half (-57%), and compared to February this year, sales decreased by 44%.
The production of passenger cars in March fell the most and amounted to 50.2 thousand units (-64%). The production of light commercial vehicles (LCV) decreased by 31% to 11 thousand vehicles, while the production of trucks decreased by 21% and amounted to 9.6 thousand vehicles. Interestingly, the production of buses increased by 35% to 1.1 thousand units.

According to the results of the first quarter, 302.6 thousand vehicles were produced in Russia, which is 21% less than in the same period last year. Passenger car production fell by 28%, while LCV, truck and bus production increased by 9%, 10% and 84% respectively.
Experts attribute the fall in production to the consequences of a military special operation in Ukraine, which is why a number of foreign automakers suspended the work of their enterprises in Russia, and some faced interruptions in the supply of components, which caused a violation of their production schedules.
At the same time, experts from the Avtostat agency stated that three companies in the top ten showed an increase in weekly sales for the first time since the crisis began.
