Total exports of beef from Brazil, considering the product in natura and processed, reached 203,742 tonnes in July, up 6.25% from the same period of the previous year, while revenue jumped 21.8%, it said on Thursday. Friday (4) the Brazilian Association of Refrigerators (Abrafrigo).
In the wake of the rise in commodity prices abroad, the country obtained US$ 1.231 billion with July shipments, versus US$ 1.010 billion in the seventh month of 2021.
Abrafrigo warned, however, that the advance in sales volume last month has a slower pace than that recorded at the beginning of the year.
Protein exports grew by 46% in February, for example. The entity did not detail why there was this slowdown in growth over the months.
In the first seven months of the year, total beef exports reached 1.29 million tons, an increase of 20.65% compared to the same period in 2021. Revenue, in turn, increased 46.65% to US $7.47 billion.
“Among the 20 largest customers in Brazil, China comes in first place with an increase of 50.07% in its purchases”, Abrafrigo said in a note.
Shipments to the Asian country accumulated in seven months increased from 493,686 tons in 2021 to 665,014 tons until July this year. Revenue went from US$ 2.5 billion to US$ 4.64 billion.
In second place among importers, the United States increased its purchases by 118.9% until July: they went from 52,935 tons in 2021 to 115,899 tons in 2022.
Revenue rose 61.9% to $638 million. As a result, the US share of Brazil’s total exports rose from 4.9% to 9%.
