Beeing, the project to adopt a beehive

“About 9% of the species of bees and butterflies are at risk of extinction and with them also the contributions they make available to the communities” is what we read in the Ispra report entitled Pollinating plants and insects: an alliance for biodiversity.

And it is precisely for this reason that Beeing, an innovative startup engaged in the development of projects dedicated to the protection of bees with the creation of urban beehives, it has launched a new program that allows anyone to approach the world of bees by obtaining training on this insect of fundamental importance: not surprisingly, according to the FAO, two thirds of the food we consume every day depends precisely from pollination.

«We are committed every day in the protect bees and promote responsible beekeeping. Two years after the launch of B-BOX, the first urban hive, we have had confirmation that there is a concrete and widespread desire to contribute to the protection of the environment. We therefore wanted to meet the desire of all those who want to make a concrete gesture to protect bees and, therefore, biodiversity, and who do not yet feel ready to have their own swarm in the garden or on the terrace. Our innovative hive makes beekeeping easier, safer and more interactive but obviously it’s not for everyone: you need to have time and passion to take care of a swarm. With Bee The Change we want to give everyone, without distinction, the opportunity to make a concrete gesture for the protection of bees, with a serious and concrete program, which really puts bees and nature at the center. Furthermore, in the medium-long term we would like to be able to expand the services offered in the apiary, such as for example honey tasting, apitherapy and real urban beekeeping courses for adults and children with the B-BOX educational urban hive »he explains Roberto Pasi, CEO e founder di Beeing.

Indeed, thanks to the initiative Bee The Change – Adopt a beehive everyone can adopt a hive from 29 euros and carry out a training and approach path in the apiary with the exclusive help of certified organic beekeepers who carry out their work by applying organic beekeeping techniques aimed at optimizing the well-being of insects and guaranteeing the quality of the honey produced.

“To make people feel even more involved in the project, we have decided to enrich the program with the possibility of live an experience in an apiary proposing a path suitable for the whole family, even for the little ones: in addition to a brief introduction to beekeeping, the beekeepers will present the secret structure of the swarm as a super-organism and many curiosities about bees “he explains Gabriele GaraviniCTO e co-founder di Beeing – and concludes «We launched the program last October 3, on the occasion of the Habitat Day. In ten days we have already registered almost a hundred adoptions, mainly concentrated in Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Lazio and Campania. Customers range from very young to over 60 and over half of them adopted the hive not for themselves but to make a responsible gift, confirming an anti-consumerist trend. A particularly positive sign is that nearly half of adoptions include training in the apiary, which suggests desire to get more and more in contact with nature».
