Operator VimpelCom (Beeline brand) told good news for its Moscow subscribers. According to the press service, the operator was the first in the capital to complete the process called refarming of UL2100 and transferred the 2100 MHz band from the 3G network to the 4G network.

The implementation of this large-scale project made it possible to expand the used frequency range in the LTE network from 30 to 45 MHz, which led to an increase in the average speed of mobile Internet by more than 30%, and the peak speed can now reach up to 350 Mbps.
In addition, during the project, more than 2,300 new LTE 2100 base stations were launched in Moscow, and in order to maintain the quality of voice communications at a high level, Beeline built more than 800 new 3G base stations.
Dmitry Mashin, director of the Moscow region of VimpelCom, noted:
Continuous and stable access to the network along the route of our clients is the main goal of the network development in Moscow. Throughout 2020, we have been building new base stations at a record pace both above ground and below it in the metro, increasing the pace of network construction. But it is important not only to build something new, but also to use the existing technical resource correctly. The increase in the frequency range in the LTE network allowed us to improve the speed parameters and the availability of mobile Internet for Muscovites in a short time. “
