Before arriving at Rock in Rio, Avril Lavigne gets a star on the “Walk of Fame”

The singer Avril Lavigne, 37, received this Wednesday (31) a star in the “Hall of Fame “, in Hollywood, USA. With that, she becomes the 2,731st artist to receive the honor.

The ceremony was broadcast live on the institution’s digital platforms this Tuesday afternoon.

“This is not complicated, Avril Lavigne is very deserving of this star on the Walk of Fame and we are delighted to honor her with this great honor,” said Ana Martinez, producer on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Canadian has sold over 40 million albums worldwide with 12.5 million units sold in the US alone. She also collects eight Grammy nominations.

“Avril’s fans are blasting my phone asking when she will get her star. We are excited to say the time is now!” added Martinez.

Avril earned a spot in the Top 10 of Billboard’s “Best of the 2000s” chart and holds the Guinness World Record as “the youngest female solo artist to top the UK chart”, and her hit “Girlfriend” emerged as ” first music video” to reach 100 million views on YouTube.

In 2022, Avril celebrated 20 years of her debut album with the release of Let Go (20th Anniversary Edition) which features six bonus tracks, including her newly recorded studio version of “breakaway ”.

The singer performs in São Paulo on September 7th and at Rock in Rio on the 9th.
