Before the TIF, the final decisions on a new package of support measures for households and businesses

Conditions for the creation of additional fiscal space, through which new support measures for households and businesses can be financed, are created by the collectability of income tax and ENFIA, while the image is particularly good in the repayment of “refundable advances”.

At the same time, the “high speeds” recorded in the transactions with “plastic money” also bring additional income to the public coffers, while the tourist receipts are also very high so far.

According to information, the final decisions on the content of the new package of support measures for households and businesses processed by the Ministry of Finance are expected to be “locked” in early autumn, in view of the Prime Minister’s speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair.

From the updated data available to the Ministry of Finance, it appears that taxpayers are in a hurry to settle their accounts with the tax office, while, at the same time, more than 250 million euros have already been returned for the repayment of “refundable advances”, with more than 203,000 freelancers and entrepreneurs to pay the refundable amount in one go, with a 15% discount. Evidence that recently led Finance Minister Christos Staikouras to publicly thank the citizens for responding to their tax obligations.

In particular, based on said data:

*In income tax, approximately 50% of the tax assessed so far has been paid by the debtors. Of the 2.258 billion euros that have been confirmed so far since the clearance of the tax returns of natural persons, taxpayers have paid 1.046 billion euros. While, as far as legal entities are concerned, of the 2.1 billion that have been assessed as income tax, 450 million euros have already been paid.

* To ENFIA, out of the 2.269 billion euros confirmed this year, an amount of 1.2 billion euros has already been paid. That is, more than half of the real estate tax has been collected, essentially after the first three installments have been paid.

*In “refundable advances”, after paying the first installment or the one-off payment of the debt by July 29, a number of 203,235 TINs made a full payment to obtain the 15% discount. From them:

-156,000 TINs paid amounts up to 500 euros.

-52,000 TINs paid amounts from 500-1,000 euros.

-8 TINs paid amounts from 200,000-300,000 euros

Finally, it is estimated that electronic transactions will break a new record this year, exceeding 60 billion euros, from 53 billion euros at the end of 2021 and 44 billion euros in 2019. In June alone, these transactions were up by 36%, with their value in the first half of the year already exceeding 30 billion euros.

According to the data of the ministry, the transactions with “plastic money” stabilize in the region of 30%-40%. In January they stood at 17.6%, in February at 30%, in March at 39%, in April at 32% and in May at 36.5%. Bringing additional revenue to public coffers.
