Beijing denies Blinken allegations of war in Ukraine

THE China categorically rejects US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s comment that its reluctance to condemn Russia for war in Ukraineis incompatible with the position of this country regarding the UN map, as announced on Thursday (17/3) the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

China believes that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the states should be upheld, said Zhao Lizian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, in a regular press conference.

In an interview with NPR yesterday, Wednesday, Blinken says China’s failure to strongly oppose Russia’s attack on Ukraine runs counter to China’s commitments as a permanent member of the UN Security Council which is responsible for maintaining peace and security.

“It’s completely inconsistent with what China is saying and repeating over and over again about the sanctity of the United Nations Charter and fundamental principles, including state sovereignty,” Blinken said.

“We will take the necessary measures to safeguard our commercial interests”

Meanwhile, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced today that Beijing will take the necessary measures to safeguard the commercial interests and legal rights of its companies. if they are affected by the impact of US sanctions imposed on Russia over Ukraine.

China opposes any form of unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law, said Gao Feng, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a regular press conference.
