Beijing states that it wishes to “broaden cooperation” with the Russian army

China said today that it wishes to “expand co -operation on a practical level” with the Russian army, following a recent visit to President Xi Jing’s Moscow for the great parade for the anniversary of victory in World War II. These statements do not immediately refer to the war in Ukraine. China and Russia have strengthened their economic, political and military cooperation over the last decade. This trend was intensified after Moscow’s invasion of Ukrainian territory in 2022.
