Wayne Santana realized that the only way to gain new experience was inevitably to undergo it. And so he did it, his way. Starting with a new album ***, Succo di Genzero Vol. 2 *** and one special capsule in collaboration with Kappa. This new album is a mix with an unexpected taste: there is Umberto Violo, of course. There is Dark Polo Gang, inevitably. There are unexpected collaborations (from Miss Keta, Sangiovanni and Fred de Palma to Tony Effe, Pyrex, Side Baby, Mambolosco and many others) with artists seemingly far from Wayne’s world. And there’s probably the most important lesson Wayne Santana has learned: growing up also means suffering, to find out who you really want to be and start over.
Wayne, your new record just came out Ginger juice vol. 2. Why make a sequel and not give it a new name?
«Because I wasn’t trying to make a concept album. When I started doing things on my own again, I realized that starting from the first album (nda. Ginger juice) was the first step to experiencing something different, but one that still had a connection. And today as yesterday we respected the canons: we did a strange thing in 2016 and we did an equally unexpected one in 2022. I believe that Ginger juice vol. 2 is a great start to then make a more focused record. In the meantime, today we wanted to have a calm and light approach to music, to throw ourselves away, to break the ice again ».
How did the ice break him in this turbulent time?
«By working hard on a personal and professional level, meeting people who have understood my vibes and my experience. Returning to Milan where I bought a house, but returning often to Rome which is the place that always reassures me. Working on many projects alone as well as in a group. This record represents a new premise for me ».
Yet someone has had to say about certain features, such as Miss Keta, Sangiovanni or Fred de Palma, which seem very far from what is expected of her.
«Well sure, we could have done the canonical things to make everyone happy. But this will never happen and I’m happy about it ».

How therapeutic was the album to get out of its crisis?
“Very. The creation of the album started at a very dark time for me. When I became aware of not wanting to let only that side out, but all the facets of me, I left ».
And how did he do it?
«I worked on the mental and physical approach. I started training, I followed a diet, I approached the organization of my time in a professional way ».
In theory, it sounds simple: good behavior, regular hours and on. But it must not have been easy to concentrate and really do it …
“Not at all. I was coming out of a very hard time sentimentally, having broken up with my girlfriend at the time. I got to the point that I wanted to quit, I didn’t want to do anything more ».
And then how did you change your mind?
“Then I realized that making music gave me the right mental freedom and made me feel comfortable. And it was nice to make it and put everything into this record to not focus on that problem. I seemed to recognize myself, to go back to seeing myself, what I can do and what I like to do. This Ginger juice vol. 2 it’s a bit like my end as my new beginning, my new starting point ».
