“Preta is a very strong woman, with a lot of faith. She is always with Mother Oxum by her side, Our Lady, and I have no doubt that she uses this support to get through this turbulent time that cancer is in a person’s life,” he said.
Bela also stated that the singer is stronger physically, mentally and psychologically, in addition to being supported by her family and a great medical team. “All this love is fundamental,” she added.
Still on the show, which had faith as its main theme, the presenter recalled her own reaction to the news that Preta’s cancer had been detected in four different places.
“She called me on video and I thought it was strange. I answered and she told me about the remission, about the whole case and I broke down and cried. I was so helpless and shocked and she, with such strength, said: ‘No, sister, it’s okay, everything will be okay’”.
“At that moment, she was bringing the ball to us. It’s impressive, you know? I’ve been in love with this woman since I was little,” she concluded.
Resumption of oncological treatment
On the 20th, Preta announced that she had resumed her oncological treatment after a year since his surgery to treat colorectal cancer with which she was diagnosed in January 2023. The artist was discharged from Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, on the 26th.
The singer explained that the disease was in remission, but the cancer can relapse (return) within a period of about five years. “Not only in my case, but in the case of 40% of people who have primary cancer, and that’s what happened to me, my cancer came back.”
