Belarus accuses France of “hijacking”: Belavia aircraft returned to Minsk

The tension in the air continues, after landing at Minsk airport where Ryanair’s -famous- flight was forced. Two more incidents came to be added today, to further complicate the situation.

THE Belarus today accused France of “hijacking”, for refusing to open its airspace to an aircraft of the state-owned Belarusian company Belavia on a flight from Minsk to Barcelona, forcing him to turn back.

“It’s absolutely scandalous, it’s immoral. “Honestly, this is a hijacking,” said Anatoly Glaz, a spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, according to the APE-MPE.

In the meantime, a Air France flight from Paris to Moscow was “postponed” due to the situation in Belarus, as became known by the company.

THE French The company said it was postponing flight AF1154 for tomorrow, Thursday 27 May, for reasons related to avoiding Belarusian airspace because “it would need a new approval from the Russian authorities to enter Russian territory”.

The flight was to depart at 10.20 in the morning from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, bound for Moscow’s Sheremetyevo.
