Belarus’s defense ministry announced today that it had summoned Ukraine’s military ombudsman to protest what he called repeated violations of Belarus’s airspace by a Ukrainian aircraft.
Belarus issued a note of protest to the Ukrainian official, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“The military’s spokesman has been informed that the Ukrainian side is avoiding dialogue to resolve the dispute – which is very worrying,” the ministry said.
Belarus complained yesterday that a Ukrainian military helicopter flew a kilometer into Belarusian airspace during exercises. A representative of the Ukrainian border guard denied the allegations.
The Ukrainian military said today it had nothing to add to the comment.
“Maybe someone made a mistake and spread accusations for manipulative reasons,” a spokesman said.
