Russia’s armed forces will return to their permanent bases when the “objective need” arises to do so, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced today.
Western powers are worried about an increase in Russian forces near the border with Ukraine. Yesterday, Sunday, Belarus announced that the joint military exercises conducted by its armed forces with those of Russia will be extended.
Today, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense stated that the withdrawal of troops will depend largely on the withdrawal of NATO forces from areas close to the border with Belarus and Russia.
For his part, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Kiev had predicted that Russian troops would not withdraw from Belarus.
