Belarus announced today that a group of people had damaged the facade of its embassy in London and attacked some of its diplomats, injuring one of them, in an incident that took place yesterday, Sunday night.
One of the diplomats received medical treatment for a broken nose, a slight concussion and a broken tooth, according to a statement from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry posted on his website.
The perpetrators tried to hide, but some of them were arrested and are believed to belong to a radical group of immigrants called “Nadzeya”, it is reported.
A Facebook group with the same name appeared to support members of the Belarusian opposition that crashed during a crackdown on mass anti-government protests last year.
Belarus’s foreign ministry said it had summoned a British diplomat to protest the incident and demanded a full investigation.
