As Gazeta.ru writes with reference to Autoreview, the American Cummins and Detroit Diesel engines, which were previously equipped with BelAZ mining dump trucks from Belarus, will be replaced by Russian engines manufactured by the Ural Diesel Engine Plant (UDMZ) from Yekaterinburg.
Due to the imposition of sanctions against Belarus, manufacturers from the United States stopped supplying components. The roadmap for the use of UDMZ engines in mining dump trucks has already been signed, the note says.
The Belarusian manufacturer already has experience working with UDMZ: in 2018, as part of the experiment, a 240-ton BelAZ-75319 was assembled with a 12-cylinder V-shaped diesel engine DM-185 with a volume of 70 liters and a power of 2536 hp. This dump truck has been operating in the Tugnuisky mine in Buryatia for several years.
