Two Belgian tourists reported occurrence at the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police after reporting they were stolen and assaulted during a leisure night in the city. According to one of those involved, They suspect having been victims of the coup known as “Good night, Cinderella.”
The case was initially registered at the 22nd DP (Penha), this Tuesday (8), and will be referred to the Special Tourism Support Police Station (Deat).
One of the tourists is in his tenth visit to Brazil and had spent the last two months in Rio. On the night of last Monday (7), moments before returning to his country, He decided to introduce the samba wheels to a friend, also Belgian, who had just arrived.
“The night began with a trip to the worker’s samba, then we went to Pedra do Sal. There we met three Brazilians who invited us to another event called Pagoda and Slipper Review in Pillars.”
According to the tourist, the group moved from central region to the north of Rio using a car by application, shared with Brazilians. In the new site, they remained for about an hour until the end of the song. Then the same men suggested to go to a bar in Madureira.
According to the victim, everything seemed normal at first, but at one point, he believes some substance was placed in the drinks.
“They called us outside the bar. After that, I lost consciousness. When I partially returned to you, I realized that I was sitting and saw my friend lying on the floor, my face covered in blood. We were without the cell phones, money and cards.”
The victim suspects that the attackers were able to observe the security codes of the cards at night and later access the values.
“They used one of my cards, which was 160 euros, and took a sum of kind. On my friend’s card, they stole almost 3,000 euros.”
Both received medical attention at Getúlio Vargas State Hospital and a social worker called the Belgium Consulate, which sent a representative to support tourists. The consul accompanied the victim to the police station to record the occurrence.
Still scared, the victims await investigations to identify the suspects.
